Race Pace is made by me, Ruaridh Bell, a sole trader based in Scotland. I am the data controller for the personal data described below. The short version: I collect as little as the app can work with, I don’t sell anything to anyone, and there are no ad networks or third-party trackers in the app.
Race Pace uses Sign in with Apple, and it’s the only way to sign in. Apple gives me a unique identifier for your account along with your name and email address. If you choose Hide My Email, that address is one of Apple’s private relay addresses and I never see your real one. This is stored in Supabase, which hosts the app’s authentication and database. I use it to keep you signed in, to carry your PRO subscription across your devices, and to attach your name to feedback you send.
Race Pace PRO is bought through the App Store. Apple takes the payment — I never see your card details, billing address or Apple ID password. Subscriptions are managed with RevenueCat, which tells the app whether yours is active. My own server stores a single record of whether your account currently has PRO, so the app can unlock live timing and the other PRO features when it asks.
Everything the app shows — the calendar, results, standings, live timing, circuit details — comes from my own API. Those requests carry your account’s access token so the server can check your subscription, but they contain nothing else about you. The server keeps short-lived logs that include your IP address, used to enforce rate limits and spot abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you.
I use PostHog to see which features get used and to catch errors, configured to store its data on PostHog’s EU servers. Events are linked to your account identifier so I can tell how many people a problem affects, and record things like which screens were opened and which errors occurred. There is no advertising SDK in the app, no IDFA, no cross-app or cross-site tracking, and nothing is shared with data brokers.
If you send feedback or a feature request, it’s handled by UserJot. Your post, and the name and account identifier attached to it, are stored on their service so that I can reply and other people can vote on ideas.
Forecasts come from Apple’s WeatherKit and maps from Apple’s MapKit, both requested for the circuit’s coordinates rather than yours. Race Pace never asks for your location and has no access to it. Apple’s own privacy policy covers those requests.
Race control summaries run on Apple’s on-device foundation model. The messages are summarised on your iPhone and nothing is sent to me, to Apple, or to anyone else. On devices that don’t support it, the button doesn’t appear at all.
Race reminders are scheduled locally on your device. I don’t run a push server for them and I don’t know which races you’ve set alerts for — that list never leaves your phone. Live Activities are updated through Apple’s broadcast push channels, where your device subscribes to a shared channel for the session, so no per-device push token is collected or sent to me.
The app caches race data and driver photos on your device so it works offline and doesn’t refetch constantly. Deleting the app removes all of it.
Settings → Delete Account removes your account and the personal data held against it. This is permanent and immediate. Anything Apple holds about your purchase sits on Apple’s side under their policy, so if you have an active subscription, cancel it through the App Store before deleting your account — deleting the account does not stop the billing.
Race Pace isn’t aimed at children and I don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you think a child has given me personal data, email me and I’ll delete it.
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask me to correct or delete it, object to how it’s used, or ask for it in a portable format. Email support@getracepace.app and I’ll respond within one month. If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
If this policy changes I’ll update the date at the top, and for anything significant I’ll say so in the app.
